Our last stop on the road trip was Pittsburgh, and it was my first visit there!
Dan really loved checking out all the bridges (one of his favorite obsessions)
I LOVED the Andy Warhol Museum
We had a great time checking out the Society of Contemporary Craft (thanks to reader Rachele for the suggestion!)
Recycled Traffic Signage by Boris Bally
Pottery by Steven Cheek
and Sharon and Kate there told us all about their upcoming exhibit – DIY: A Revolution in Handicrafts (opens Sept 10th) We even got to look at promotional materials before they went off to print!
I totally sense a field trip coming up for this!
and we did more crafty shopping at Wildcard, an awesomely curated shop with an impressive selection of (well, everything, but especially) cards and gift wrap!
Sunday morning was time to hit the road, but we made one more stop before heading back to Michigan – to the Evans City Cemetary. I know, this sounds weird, but this is the cemetery where they filmed Night of the Living Dead!
This actually was Dan’s idea – a surprise that he waited to tell me about until we were driving to Pennsylvania. My husband (who is totally not a fan of horror movies) did his research and mapped it out for us, so that I could see it. I’ve been a huge fan of the Living Dead movies since I was just a little kid, and it was really exciting to me to go to the graveyard. My husband is THE BEST!
We roamed around and recreated some of the scenes with our camera.
It was the best time I’ve ever had in a cemetery.
The drive home was long, but we were happy to be back in Michigan again after 9 days away!
