With the new HD website complete, and a small break in my schedule before a crazy amount of spring shows and biz trips coming up, Dan and I took a week long vacation to Florida last week, which was a wonderful break from the cold weather in Michigan!
We left on Sunday and first went to Disney World for three days. We watched rhinos running at Animal Kingdom, rode some of the classic rides at Magic Kingdom, enjoyed the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, swam in the gigantic wave pool and went on lots of water slides at Typhoon Lagoon (who’dve thought I’d love water parks?!?), and had some AMAZING meals and Strongbow on tap at Pleasure Island. It was oodles of fun!
On day four we rented an electric blue PT Cruiser and drove to the next hotel in Wesley Chapel to meet up with Dan’s parents. Dan and his dad went to shotgun shooting lessons with a private instructor for the next two days while Dan’s mom and I hung out, shopped and laid in the sun by the pool reading (so great). Dan and his dad were both really impressed with their lessons, and we all had a great time together in the evening!
Next, the four of us finished the trip with a day and a half at Clearwater Beach. Our hotel rooms had balconies overlooking the beach, which had the whitest sand I’ve ever seen and seashells washing up with every wave. It was gorgeous, and I even saw a couple dolphins swimming by! One last incredible dinner and a round of mini-golf in an elaborate pirate-ship course and it was time to head back to Michigan the next afternoon. Even though it was pretty cold that morning, Dan and I had to take the opportunity to swim in the ocean for the first time (ok, so it was the Gulf of Mexico, but I still think it counts) and quickly discovered that salt water tastes really yucky. But it was fun to swim in!
We headed back to Michigan and while we were sad to leave Florida, we were so excited to get back home and see Kona again. Now we are both back to work today, and Michigan welcomed us home with (hopefully) the last snowfall of the season! Missing Florida already!!!
