A home for your necklaces

img_3636.JPGI don’t know about most girls out there, but I have quite a lot of necklaces. For years they had a home in a little box I bought at Target, but over time my collection grew and grew – into a big messy knot in a box. One day, I had an idea of a simple project to organize them, and incorporate them into the design of our bedroom. I made a functional cork board to hang them on so they stopped getting tangled, and made it look great too – like a piece of art on our wall!

It was really quite easy, and only took a couple hours (including buying everything I needed). Here’s how I did it!

Materials List

First, removed the bad artwork from the frame. You can then use it as a stencil to cut out the corkboard from the bulliten board. Set the board in it’s new frame to make sure it will fit correctly.

Cut the fabric and staple it tightly around all the edges of the corkboard on it’s back.

Next, place the corkboard back into the frame and secure it in place using the hardware already on the frame.

We hung mine on our bedroom wall right above my nightstand using hooks on both sides of the frame so it would be secure to the wall no matter how much weight was on it, or how un-evenly it was distributed. If you have a lot of heavy, chunky necklaces I’d recommend you do the same.

Push the pins into place, staggering them to maximize the space.

Voila, put your necklaces in their new home!

  4. Kaylan, I love yours! Great fabric and frame!!!!

  5. Hello. A suggestion for an alternative to new push pins, is to use vintage curtain tieback pins for displaying your retro jewelry :) … if you search Ebay or Etsy you will find many to chose from. [yes, I sell on both..lol] Have a great day. Carolyn
